SIFTER's sixth annual list collecting every single game released in 2024 that has been made in Australia, from PC, Xbox, PlayStation Switch and more.
It's been six years now that SIFTER has put together this list of Australian made games, each year it's a lot of fun to dive back into the year that was. It was a hard one for many studios, in Australia and across the world. It's bloody hard to make games and each every title on this list is a miracle.
It's been tricky to gauge whether or not this is valuable to you, but James O'Connor included a reference to it in his excellent book about the development of the Untitled Goose Game (pre-order it, it's an awesome read) and that meant a lot. Next step getting paid to do this.
If you've enjoyed or appreciated the work the team here at SIFTER has done since we started back in 2015, I'm asking you please to share it with your friends and colleagues, to join our newsletter, and if you have the means to support us financically so we can cover our costs on Ko-Fi. We're indie creators just like most of you and we are almost entirely self-funded.
This year Victorian developers released 31 games, it was a big year for the Queensland developers who released 15 games, New South Wales based devs put out 10 games, Western Australians shipped 6 releases, South Australians released 8, Tasmania had 4, Australian Capital Territory had 2, and Northern Territory put out one award winning game!
There were actually two releases across Gameboy and Gameboy Advance this year as well, how cool!
Overall Steam was still the most popular platform to release on with 50 different games launching there. Itch saw 21 releases and Nintendo Switch saw 12 games released. PlayStation had 10 Australian made games, Xbox had 7 launches this year and there were 8 VR games across a variety of platforms.
If we've missed your game, please get in touch and we'll add it in. I've done hard work to capture everything I can find, but as the last six years have taught me there are always more games to learn about. You can add your game using our form here: Add my game to the Australian Made Game List and we'll update this page
Each game is added to this list once in the month of the their first release, but we include other later platform releases in that entry as well.
