There are a stack of cool games to try at this free Steam event this weekend.
Indie publishing label Fellow Traveller's celebration of the gaming narrative Ludonarracon is back for another year and it's a great opportunity to try out a bunch of new games.
We've been checking out the demos and here are our picks for your weekend.
This game is kinda something else, with a really excellent narrator who prods and pokes at you. Kill the princess, simple right? You want to save the world, right. "Why?" Just do it.... or don't, there are multiple different pathways through this spooky demo. We can't wait to see more with the game still in development from bby Howard and Tony Howard-Arias at Black Tabby Games.
Finally my journalism degree pays off, this is a game where you are a reporterbot on the hunt for great stories across the universe filing inches for the local holopaper. It's cute, it's got a fun investigative system where you find quotes, facts and then assemble the story as you see fit, but you'll be scored on how good a yarn you spin. Some of the team at Copychaser are ex-journos so write what you know! Cute and silly.
If you caught our recent interview with Liam Esler from Summerfall Studios on Lightmap, we spoke a lot about the dynamic songs you can make in STRAY GODS. Pick your favourite next line, and Grace our protagonist will sing along. It's pretty cool to hear the different combinations and this game has an absolutely stellar cast like Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Merle Dandridge, Rahul Kohli and many more.
Dripping with style THE INVICIBLE has a retro futurist aesthetic that I crave, this game is an adaptation of the Stanisław Lem's book of the same name. Polish studio Starward Industries are developing this really gorgeous looking game, with Marek Markuszewski who is ex-CD Project Red taking the lead.
These are just a few of our favourites so far and all the games below have got new demos available digitally for the first time.
Head on over to Steam for the full event including fireside chats with a bunch of great creators including Ron Gilbert (RETURN TO MONKEY ISLAND), Gareth Damian Martin (CITIZEN SLEEPER) and Andrew Shouldice (TUNIC) just to name a few.
