The big reveal is finally here with new and upgraded last gen games on the way very soon.
Nintendo have officially announced the release date and price for their next console, the Switch 2, and it could be in your hot little hands sooner than you might think.
It will be available for A$699.95 (US$449.99) for the console on its own or will be available on June 5th launch day with the new title MARIO KART WORLD packed in for A$769.95 (US$$499.99).
Confirmed features include 4K gameplay in select games when docked, a 120hz 1080p screen one the console itself, and the mysterious C button which was pictured on the Joy-Con 2 controllers opening up direct access to the social GameChat feature.
GameChat looks like a builtin version of similar chat tools available on other devices, and when paired with the new camera accessory allows video and voice conversations while playing.
New titles announced include the open-world Mario Kart World, 3D open world platformer DONKEY KONG BANANZA and DRAG X DRIVE a cool looking wheelchair basketball game that utilises the new mouse functionality of the Joy-Con 2 controllers.
Koei-Tecmo will again team up with Nintendo for the TEARS OF THE KINDOM prequel musou fighting game, showing what happens to Zelda when she gets sent back in time, in HYRULE WARRIORS: AGE OF IMPRISONMENT.
Previous generation titles like THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD and THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TEARS OF THE KINGDOM will get updated visuals with the paid upgrade "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" featuring improved graphics and functionality.
Upcoming titles like POKEMON LEGENDS: Z-A and METROID PRIME 4 BEYOND will also launch with separate versions for Switch and Switch 2 consoles.
There were a number of third party titles announced such a fleeting glimpse at HOLLOW KNIGHT SILKSONG still slated for 2025, and also HADES II, BORDERLANDS 4 as well as EA SPORTS and 2K SPORTS titles.
From Software shared the gothic fantasy PVPVE game THE DUSKBLOODS a multiplayer title coming exclusively to Switch 2 in April 2026.
