FIRST PERSON: Restarting the fight: Halo Master Chief Collection arrives on PC

PC Master Ra...Chief... James switched his Xbox for a PC a long time ago but the nostalgia of the Halo series has him drawn back in once again.

First Person is a series focusing on our personal experiences with video games.

The games in the Halo franchise are what I consider the most important in my formative gaming years, second only to Age of Empires, so when I heard the games I love were finally all coming to PC, I rejoiced.

Memories of my first LAN parties came flooding back, of racking up Killimanjaro medals and the thought of finally owning my own copy of Halo 2 felt like bliss.

Over the past few years I have slowly but surely shifted from console over to PC, preferring the keyboard and mouse and amassing a large steam library that is close to Gabe’s own.

I don't know whether or not those games will collect virtual dust like many others in my library, but I am definitely going to purchase them because of one simple reason: Nostalgia.

I want to hear the familiar pops of a battle rifle going off as I fight enemies and feel the satisfaction of landing a perfectly lobbed sticky grenade on a grunt.

Re-live that wacky Cortana going mad saga, and suffer through a solo legendary campaign only to rage quit at The Maw, again.

Last month Brian ‘ske7ch’ Jarrad, announced in a blog post in November on the Halo Waypoint site that the wait was almost over, that this week the first of six games of the Halo Master Chief Collection would arrive on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 (Wednesday 4th December in Australia) with the launch of Halo: Reach.

The rest of the games will launch in 2020 and you will be able to purchase them as standalone games or in a bundle, and to my excitement, the games were coming to Steam not just the Microsoft store.

Halo: Reach is also set to arrive on the Xbox One as a DLC for the vastly improved, new Master Chief Collection, the first released 2014 proved a frustrating launch for fans with issues in its matchmaking functionality.

No announcements have yet to bring Halo 5 to PC, but if the new collection does well, I don’t see why the wouldn’t want to.

If you’ve played MCC on Xbox this news might not excite you as much, but for a die-hard fan like me, it leaves plenty to be excited for.

It's been a long while since I've pulled on my MJOLNIR armor and picked up the battle rifle, and with Halo Infinite looming in the distance, I can’t wait to dive back in.
